About me
Alisha Lewis began service to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education in March 2017 where she serves as the Associate Director of Communications. Through Arkansas State Transformation, her role transitioned to Chief Communication Director for the new encompassing Department of Education. Through another series of transitions, she rejoined the Division of Higher Education last August as the Assistant Commissioner of Operations.
In addition to Financial Aid she is responsible for promoting initiatives that benefit Arkansas students in the form of strategic communication.
Prior to joining the agency, her experience in higher education was as the Director of Institutional Advancement at UA Cossatot. She also served in Rotary, De Queen/Sevier County Chamber of Commerce, and as the President of the Arkansas Community Colleges.
Lewis earned an Associate of Arts from Carl Albert State College in Poteau, Oklahoma, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and a Master of Science in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
She is a mom to three and enjoys hiking, kayaking, reading, and Netflix.
