Stacy Smith is a dedicated education professional currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner for the Arkansas Department of Education. With a passion for improving education in the state for all students and educators alike, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the state's educational landscape. With an impressive career spanning over 29 years in the field of education, Stacy brings a wealth of experience to her role. Her journey began as an educator in the classroom and later as a building administrator, where she spent over 20 years at the building level, directly impacting the lives of students and fostering a love for learning. Stacy has continuously demonstrated her commitment to educational excellence and student success throughout her career.
In 2014, her remarkable leadership qualities and expertise in curriculum and instruction led her to take on various roles within the Department, including Directior of Curriculum and Instruction and later as Assistant Commisioner for Learning Services. In recognition of her outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to Arkansas students, Stacy was appointed Deputy Commissioner in 2020. In this esteemed position, she works closely with the Secretary of Education, overseeing the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. Her influence
